November 11, 2019: Barry Burton, Detroit’s “Green” Project Director

Barry Burton helps make sure that Detroit Parks are getting greener and greener.

Our November meeting is Monday, November 11, 2019 at 7:00pm. We will meet at a beautiful home in historic Indian Village*. Refreshments, including wine and non-alcoholic beverages, will be served.  After time to”meet and greet”,we will have a short business meeting. The Holiday Tour will be discussed.

Program starts at 8:00pm.  Our speaker Barry Burton’s official title is Project Manager of the CIty of Detroit General Services Department. This may not sound very exciting. What he really does is making sure all work on Detroit’s green spaces, including parks, parkways, boulevards, and freeway beautification, actually happens. He will explain what is being planned and planted on public lands in Detroit. This includes new developments in Mallicone Park, massive planting of perennials and shrubs in Erma Henderson Park and over a million daffodil bulbs planted through out the city.
