The Daffodil Day luncheon at the Detroit Yacht Club is the major fundraiser of Daffodils4Detroit.
Covid stopped most Indian Village Garden Club activities early in 2020. We were able to award $25,000 in scholarships in June 2020 using funds raised by our 22019 Holiday Tour & Gala.
The April 2020 Daffodil Day was cancelled by the Michigan Division of the WNFGA. In April 2021, a Virtual Tour of Daffodils in Detroit was held instead of a live event. Many thanks to Barry Burton and our member Aislinn for putting together the Virtual Tour.
We started using Zoom to keep in touch. The topic of our first Zoom meeting was “How to Zoom.” Live meetings were held masked and outside, weather permitting. Our return to indoor meeting was November of 2021 at the Players Club Theatre. December of 2021 did not see a Holiday Tour. A small, but festive, meeting was held to give Christmas gifts to children from a local school.
The 2020 and 2021 the Home and Garden Tours were completely cancelled. in 2022, a “fresh air” Garden Only Tour was held. We hope to return to our usual Home and Garden Tour format in 2023.
Now in September 2022, we hope to return to our former event schedule. However, we will remain aware of health concerns that effect us all.
Posted 2019: The Indian Village Woman’s Garden Club always has something going on. In addition to monthly meetings, regular annual events include: a spring Pancake Breakfast, Daffodil Day with the Michigan Division of the WNFGA, the May Outing, a Pizza & Bake Sale at the October Indian Association Meeting and the Holiday Dinner Dance held jointly with the Indian Village Men’s Garden Club.
The Holiday VIP Gala and the Holiday Home Tour, both ABC Scholarship fundraisers, are held every December.
Our biggest single event is the Historic Indian Village Home & Garden Tour in June. The Indian Village Association and the Indian Village Men’s Garden Club are our partners for the Tour. Profits are used to support the Centennial Garden and for programs and improvements in Indian Village and surrounding area.
